Help with GenJ Wiki

Postby nmeier » Wed Dec 26, 2007 17:34:51

Hi

I'd like to mention again that we're always looking for folks to help out with documentation, translation and maintenance of our online content.

The wiki that you see here http://genj.sf.net is a community-enabled site where each interested contributor can "add value".

Please let me know if you're interested in contributing to this very important aspect of GenJ. We can arrange for write access (close group atm) and off you go ... it's very easy to edit the content with the browser you're using right now :)

Thanks!
Nils

I've not been very successfull this morning when I tried to update it. I guess you're gonna have to fix my errors ;-((( The tabs I added are now shown on every pages instead of just the one related to development. Sorry. Francois

no problem Francois - i sorted out the tabs/sidebar pages and there's a new developer's section now with sub-pages for reports, plugins, etc.

in this form of wiki there's namespaces like

en
fr
de

and sub-namespaces like

en:development
fr:development

the bar at the top is the respective page 'tabs' e.g.

en:development:tabs
fr:development:tabs

and the sidebar accordingly (which applies to all sub-namespaces automatically)

en:sidebar
fr:sidebar

btw under the administration link of a page one can move and rename pages ... very helpful :)

Cheers
Nils

activating

Postby guzguz » Thu Jan 03, 2008 10:36:55

heloo Nils

I'm more or less ready with the Hungarian translation. It was much easier, and not so many, than I thought. I will have to work with it, but it will be only a little correction, it is not the most 'beautyful' Hungarian everywhere...

So I would like to ask if, if you would like to check and activate it, or should I just place the links in the sidebars?

And another question: how does the 'wanted' page work? there are a lot of links to my translation. Are they really pages, which are not ready , and I sould just wait for the English version, and then make the translation?

bye:

Hi Guzguz

first let me say - thanks for your help. Without users like you we cannot keep all that content up to date and in every language and that's what makes this an open source project: we're working together to create something useful and free :)

Regarding the images (thanks for the screenshot) - I haven't seen this. I assume this is a connection problem from wherever the browser is to the sourceforge website ... nothing in the wiki I know about related to this.

Regarding the wanted pages - yes, some pages are still missing and thus show up as wanted.

In theory every language part of the wiki can have its own content but I think it's better to have them follow roughly the line of the english layout and content. Otherwise it'll be harder for other translators to later revise, copy-edit and update content ... we're kinda keeping them all in line ;)

Especially with most parts of the old manual missing I'd suggest to hold off until I've copied and updated the manual part. Then you could translate it.

Thanks again
Nils

heloo Nils!

I am happy, because I could help in such a great projekt!

about the pictures: I have tried it from several computers - but it did not work. can you send me a direkt link? and by the way: can you see these pictures in the hungarian version?

updating the translation: if I have time, I will check the changes of the english version, and translate it in the future, too. I totally agree with you, that the content should be the same in every languages.

activating the hungarian version: you haven't answered to it, so I will activate it.

cheers:

hello guzguz

sorry - I just now realised what's going on with 'the pictures' as my browser wasn't showing a broken-image indicator.

The link to the media attached to the page wasn't right - I've corrected in in english and hungarian.

I see hungarian is linked up so we're good to go :)

Thanks
Nils
